Hylaform / Hylaform Plus

Hylaform and Hylaform Plus are non-surgical injectible dermal fillers used to smooth away facial lines and wrinkles such as smile lines, marionette lines, the lines above your lip and frown lines between your eyes. Both of these fillers provide immediate, natural looking results with treatment and recovery time taking only one hour.

Hylaform is made from a highly purified form of hyaluronic acid. Hylaform Plus contains a larger hyaluronic gel acid particle, therefore, Hylaform Plus will last longer and work effectively for deeper facial wrinkles.

What Is Hyaluronic Acid?

Hyaluronic acid is a natural sugar and is found in the human body in skin, cartilage, joints and the eyes. In skin tissue, hyaluronic acid fills the space between collagen and elastin fibers. It’s role in the skin is to deliver nutrients, to hydrate the skin by holding in water and to act as a cushioning agent. Hyaluronic acid is a natural component of the skin, however, as we age, our skin loses hyaluronic acid, contributing to the formation of wrinkles.   

What Are The Treatments Like And Do They Hurt?

The procedure is simple, performed at your doctor’s office and takes no longer than one hour. Hylaform is injected just below the surface of the skin using a fine needle to reduce discomfort. Your doctor may choose to anesthetize or numb the treatment area to further minimize discomfort. Most patients feel comfortable resuming their normal activities immediately following treatment. To maintain optimal correction, touch-up injections are usually needed two to three times per year.

Is Hylaform Safe?

Hylaform is safe and has undergone extensive testing including scientific trials to establish its safety and effectiveness. Hylaform was FDA approved in April 2004 and Hylaform Plus was FDA approved in October 2004.
